About Lisa, Founder of SOMA Lifestyles

A First-Generation Bridge
I grew up between cultures — connected to my Indian heritage while fully immersed in modern American life.
Ayurveda was present in subtle ways: in food, in spices, in ritual. But like many first-generation children, I experienced fragments of tradition rather than full immersion.
Over time, I realized how easily ancestral wisdom can be lost in the pace of modern living.
SOMA became my bridge back — and forward.
It is my way of preserving what came before me while making it accessible to women navigating careers, families, and full lives.
From Marketing to Ayurveda
Before founding SOMA, I spent over 17 years in marketing and business strategy in Silicon Valley. I understood growth, branding, and the modern pace of life — and I understood burnout.
Ayurveda offered something different: sustainability. Rhythm. Prevention instead of reaction.
What began as curiosity became formal study and deep commitment. I didn’t want Ayurveda to feel complicated or clinical. I wanted it to feel lived.
Education & Professional Training
My work is grounded in formal study and ongoing education in holistic health:
Ayurveda Practitioner — California College of Ayurveda
Professional Herbalist Certification — International Integrative
Professional Nutritional Therapy Certification — International Integrative
Ayurvedic Integrative Nutrition, Level I & II — VedaWise
Pranayama Certification, Level I — Yoga Education College
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Marketing)
I also serve as a Board Member of the California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine (CAAM), supporting the advancement and integrity of Ayurveda in California and beyond.
This interdisciplinary foundation allows me to bridge ancestral wisdom with modern clarity — preserving tradition while presenting it in a way that feels accessible and relevant today.
Why I Created SOMA
I created SOMA because I saw two extremes — ancient wisdom buried in complexity, and modern wellness driven by trends.
Women deserve something steadier.
SOMA simplifies Ayurveda into daily rituals:
A spoon of Chyawanprash
Golden Milk before bed
Seasonal shifts instead of drastic resets
Ritual over rigidity
Ayurveda is not a trend. It is a way of living in rhythm.
My Philosophy
I believe:
Nature is medicine
Prevention is powerful
Women must nourish themselves first
Ritual builds resilience
Ancestral wisdom belongs in modern life
Wellness does not need to be complicated to be transformative.
SOMA is my way of carrying traditional wisdom forward, preserving what matters and sharing it simply.
